Wedding Poll: Will you invite your boss and/or coworkers?

I know a lot of people who struggle with whether they should invite their boss and/or their coworkers to their wedding. One person recently told me that they invited her boss because they knew he wouldn’t come but he’d give a really expensive gift. (I know, I thought that was a little shallow….) Regardless, it can be an awkward situation to have your boss and coworkers there — but it can be more awkward to report back to them how the wedding was. So…

Let us know why or why not!

Destination Weddings: Yay or Nay?

I am heading to a wedding this afternoon and it’s actually not too far from where I grew up. But when the bride (who I’ve known forever) was contemplating her wedding, she gave serious consideration to having a destination wedding. I showed her a little bit about how to get married abroad — and she changed her tune and decided on a local wedding.

So…. Do you like destination weddings? Will you have one? Did you have one?

Tell us your thoughts in the comment section below! (Thanks!!!)

Should You Learn Cultural Wedding Customs?

In the past year, I’ve attending a Catholic wedding, a non-denominational wedding, a Chinese wedding banquet, and an Indian wedding. I usually ask someone what is expected in terms of attire, but I don’t usually delve much further. Other people think you should know exactly what to expect – attire, mannerisms, etc. Others think that you should be able to attend weddings as yourself, with your own cultural background and without regard (other then being polite!) to the particular culture of that wedding. What do you think?

What Wedding Trend Did You Give Up?

In light of the struggling economy, many couples are getting rid of some of the traditions and trends in wedding planning. There are some things that people give up more readily than others — for example, I’m guessing the bride would rather give up favors than a wedding dress! So, with that in mind, what have you (or will you) give up in your wedding planning process? Why?

Regardless of what you give up (especially if it’s a formal photographer!), make sure you get all the photos from your guests, so that you can see the pictures from your big day! Save money by using an online photo album.

Which Wedding Planning Magazine Do You Use?

As we know, there are about a million wedding magazines out there, along with a billion blogs and websites. It’s all rather overwhelming. I know a lot of people prefer to have a magazine in hand than to use the internet (though I recommend using The Wedding Lens blog, of course!). In this economy, people can’t afford to stock up on TONS of bridal and wedding magazines, so I want to help out our readers.

Which magazines are the best to use? Which are most helpful? Which gave you the most ideas? The best ideas? Which would you recommend?

Answer the quiz and then leave a comment below so that we can find out why you picked what you did.  Thanks for your help!!

Will You Write Your Own Wedding Vows?

Last week, I told you how you and your partner can write your own wedding vows. We got a lot of great feedback about that post… so I wonder — will you write your own wedding vows? What will you say?

How Will You Give Back?

The other day, I wrote about all the different ways that you can give back to the world and your community when you are wedding planning. They’re not hard to do, but they can make a big difference. As I said in my blog, one of the things you can do is go green in some form — check out our list of 50 Green Tips for ideas! With that in mind: How will you give back?
